My family had the pleasure of being taken care of by Xu ayi and we couldn’t have asked for more! She is an absolutely incredible yue sao who approaches her role with not only kindness and care but an impeccable level of professionalism and skill. Originally when choosing a yue sao, we started off by searching for someone who appeared to have an excellent level of experience- without a doubt, Xu ayi surpassed our expectations in that aspect. Truthfully, I imagine there are several yue sao that we interviewed that had skill/experience, but when interviewing, you could tell she had more. It was her smile, confident responses to questions and her flexibility with incorporating her extensive knowledge with our own personal preferences (ie. waiting to bathe the baby and hair washing during postpartum confinement) that ultimately led us to choose her. Once she started working, she shined even more as a yue sao. She has a true love for taking care of people and although she was mainly here to take care of me and the baby, she ended up taking care of everyone. Our baby absolutely adores her and is always instantly soothed in her arms. She does all of the expected baby care tasks but also talks to him, plays music for him, shows him back/white high contrast cards and books, makes sure he gets his daily tummy time and stretches, and diligently tracks his feeds/diapers amongst so many other things. You can tell how much she genuinely cares about him when you hear the joy in her voice every time she calls my attention over to see something cute he’s doing. Another thing I really love about Xu ayi is how good she was at taking care of me. I’m bad at asking for help, but she knows how help without me even saying anything. Bottles and pump parts are always washed. Baby’s laundry is always done. She keeps all of the spaces she’s uses neat and tidy and even help us with other parts of our home. I haven’t had the energy to clean the floors and she mopped and vacuumed without me asking. She’s motivating while breastfeeding and pumping (and cooks food that is good for boosting milk supply). My digestion has been off after my c section and she always checks in with me before every meal to make sure what she plans to make is to my liking and won’t upset my stomach. I’m not particularly picky but good food is super important to me, and her food is always delicious! My husband also really liked having her. He speaks limited Mandarin and my in laws only speak English and she goes out of her way to try to communicate in English (although you should definitely have someone who is relatively proficient in Mandarin in the household.) He eats everything she cooks but she still always makes sure that her food is to his liking. She has provided anticipatory guidance on what to expect/what’s normal for our baby’s development and provides little tips and tricks for us about how to take care of our baby- everything from scooping the inner lining of the baby’s diaper to prevent blowouts to suggesting a cream (that worked!) to use to clear up his baby acne- so we feel prepared when she leaves for her next family. Our time with Xu ayi flew by and we are so lucky to have her during this time of change in our lives. If you have a hard time making decisions like I did when we were picking a yue sao, I would say stop your search and choose her! I highly recommend her!
